Japanese dolls (Nihon ningyou) are the Japanese traditional handiworks wearing traditional kimono with the traditional hairstyle called “Nihongami”. In Edo era (1603~), when young girls of Buke (known as Samurai) married into other families, they used to take these dolls as the gifts for marriage. Dolls had been said to protect the owners against misfortunes in place of themselves. Nowadays, Japanese dolls are considered as one of the most beautiful handiworks with both quality and history in Japan. They are very popular for foreign people as souvenirs and gifts
